Victorian Era Diamond and Enamel Snake Locket
19th Century diamond and enamel locket, in 18k gold. The blue enamel forms a basket weave design with over 25 rose cut diamonds. There is a gold snake encircling the locket. On the reverse, the original glass is still intact. English in origin. Circa 1860.
The snake was a popular Victorian-era symbol for eternal love.
There are remnants of what would have been former pin fittings on the verso.
