18th Century Rose Cut Diamond Tear Necklace

A beautifully sentimental object, the tear is formed in natural seed pearls and four rose-cut diamonds. Originally a small brooch, it was later converted into a pendant. Tears were a common 18th and 19th century mourning emblem.  English in origin, circa 1810.

Measures 1" in drop length.

The pendent comes with a 16 inch 18k gold micro-belcher chain from the same period.
