Victorian Era ONYX AND DIAMOND STAR LOCKET
19th-century era black onyx and diamond locket, with gold details. The onyx has been carved to form the locket with a hinged glass panel on the verso. Topped with an old mine cut and rose-cut diamond star. English in origin. Circa 1870.
Celestial jewels were quite popular in the late 19th century. It coincided with a fascination with many astronomical discoveries of the period.
Measures 2" in drop length and 1.25" in width.
