Antique Essex Crystal Terrier Dog Pendant
Beautifully carved and painted Essex crystal pendant. A depiction of a Terrier dog in bright crystal. It looks to be a Jack Russel Terrier. What was once a part of cufflinks in the early 20th century is now a lovely pedant. Austrian in origin. Circa 1920. 14k gold.
Essex crystal, sometimes referred to as a reverse intaglio, was popularized in the Victorian era and into the Edwardian era. The reverse intaglio was made from rock crystal cabochons that had been carved on the flat backside, where an image was carved in reverse and hand-painted. A tiny work of art.
Measures .75" in drop length and .50" wide. Chains are sold separately. Please inquire about our available antique and modern chain options.
