Early 19th Century Queen Caroline Sappire Heart Locket Ring
This ring engraved with the date 1820 has a natural sapphire, in a pinched collet setting, which conceals a locket compartment in the shape of a subtle heart. On either side of the sapphire, connected by a
chain, is a key and a heart of gold. This “Key to my heart” is a wonderful example of this ring, I
know of only a couple of others. What makes this one so intriguing is the additional original
engraving. On the outside; “Caroline Queen of England 1820”. On the inside; “Franchise et
Discretion”. Famous for her alleged indiscretions, this ring surely has a great story.
Jersey, England in origin. Circa 1830
