Ancient Bloodstone Salamander Intaglio Pinkie Ring

Ancient Roman carved bloodstone intaglio ring depicting a Salamander. The shank is in a high carat gold stir-up shaped setting, common in rings from this time period.  The salamander represented a talisman of protection as it was believed to have been a "fire proof" creature. Circa 1nd Century.
