19th Century Old Mine Cut Diamond Solitaire Pendant Necklace

A simple floating diamond necklace. The diamond is in silver topped gold cutaway setting. Approximately 1 carat, J color and SI1 clarity. Originally the center of a large flower brooch and converted into a pendant necklace. The unusual flat proportions of the stone make the stone appear larger than its weight, facing up more like a 2 carat stone. Hanging on a modern 14k gold cable link chain.  Diamond and setting, English in origin. Circa 1860.

The necklace measures 16" in total length.
